Announcement!

I want you all to extend a warm welcome to SOV2's new Director of Ecumenical Outreach, Dr. Thomas Al-fakkir. As you know, we've been looking for a DEO for some time. I really don't feel that we're plugged in enough to all the other faith traditions in the area. Tom comes with an impressive background of gentle understanding - he's a master of comparitive theology and is really able to break down the barriers between peoples. You'll see him around the grounds in the next few days. He's going to be leading some tours with people from other faith communities. Make sure you give him a big hi-ho!

We will throw in a free bust of 'yours truly': http://www.kohvarillaguild.com/weakland.htm.

Hey, Father Tim, wanna be tagged in a meme? You get to give your readers a list of things that don't bother you. Should be fun reading! Details at Salve Regina.

Che, (and everyone!)
I'm back from a retreat I took. I know I left on short notice, but I had to sort of get away anyway, what with the Keith thing, and this seemed like as good an opportunity as any.
I went to a woman's retreat in Chicago and heard Dr. Alice von Hildebrand, Mr. Christopher West, Mr. Scott Hahn, and many other fine speakers I had never heard of speak on subjects with which I was not at all familiar. I also attended Mass every day (YES! They have it every single day - who knew??) at a beautiful parish where the men chanted (it was so beautiful and not at all stuffy and stodgy like I had been told) and the priests didn't tell jokes and the choir sang Mozart (I always thought he was the guy who wrote "The Magic Flute", but it turns out there's ANOTHER Mozart who wrote MANY Masses and they are TO DIE FOR!) but everyone was so kind and seemed genuinely concerned that I not go to hell. No one has ever seemed concerned about that before.
Suffice it to say, I have some VERY interesting literature and talking points to share with you all.
Turns out, I was pretty wrong about a lot of stuff.
(Oh, my word - and that Mr. West is quite a looker - but he's happily married with a few dozen little blessings, so I don't see a future for us! LOL.)
Anyway, I can't wait to get together with you all over coffee to give you the books and pamphlets.
And I did a lot of soul-searching, and I'm going to go back to using my baptismal name.
Hope you all understand.
-Bernadette, AKA "Britnee"
(Che, it still has two e's in it!)
LOL.

Bernadette--That's going to take some getting used to. What were you wrong about? What books and pamphlets? What are you going to do to the singles' nights?

I'm behind you girl, but...what?

Che and Taheetee,
It's much too complicated to explain in a comments box.
You know how Parish Helton is all religious now from being in jail?
Well, sort of the same thing happened to me in Chicago.
I have some pamphlets and books, including "The Thrill of the Chaste", "Lord, Have Mercy", "Spirit of the Liturgy", "The Eucharist, our all", and "Confession: Its Fruitful Practice."
I was thinking for the singles group maybe we could read and discuss "The Thrill of the Chaste."
It's really good so far.
I will get with you guys soon to let you know the details!
(Sing it like Stevie Wonder!)
--- Bernadette! Wooaaahoohhhh!

I'm confused... Do you still want your hemp jacket back?
