Cometh the Darkness

Hey.

Have you ever been in a brightly lighted candle-lit room, and had somebody turn off the candles one by one? That's what I felt like after hearing that Archbishop Piero Marini has been fired by the Pope for being too progressive. Apparently he's going to be replaced by another person named Marini, which is obviously an effort by the Vatican to hide this "midnight surprise." It's almost like when the Baltimore Colts left town in the middle of the night and became the Arizona Cardinals. It's a disgrace!

But most of all, it's really sad. I mean, a lot of the Fathers of Vatican II are getting kind of old, and a lot of them are being forced into retirement and exile by the minions of Rome. Where there was once a bright constellation of progressive spirit-seekers, there is now a growing darkness, as we regress back into a hidebound medieval dark age.

Please do not worry, Reverend Father Plarvik. Now the Old Mass is back, there will be LOTS of candles to lighten your darkness.

Oh, Father . . .

The Baltimore Colts committed quite a sin by slinking off to Indianapolis (not Arizona) on March 28, 1984. Don't ask me how i would know that.

Now would you hear my confession for my scrupulosity?

Syb Mad - you mean candles are made of honey! Cool! I'd really like to be vegan like you, but I'm afraid that I just can't hack it - which is OK.

Cygnus - I don't hear confessions - we don't do that at SOV2. But I will give you a general absolution and a plenary indulgence. Oh - and you're right - I forgot about the Indianapolis Colts, and how could I forget with all the Peyton Mania that goes on in Knoxville?

I.R. - I don't think it's OK to cook Squirrels in any sort of sauce. Squirrels are our Earthfriends.
