Ecumenical Faith Community Picnic!

Hey! This is cool! I'm 'blogging from Maggie Valley on Sister Fairah's new iPhone! Anyway, great news everybody! Kate Po has finally gotten the plans together for the "parish" picnic, which will be held right here on the grounds of SOV2 on July 4th. Since most people get Imperialism Day off from work, this should be a great chance for fellowship and community. That's why I'm really excited to be able to honor the request of Fr. Chad over at SSLI Faith Community. You see, they've got a really small chapel and no parish grounds at all, so Fr. Chad asked if he could use SOV2 for their faith community picnic. I told him "No Way! But you're welcome to commune with us at our faith community picnic". I'm really jazzed about this. This will be our first ecumenical picnic. Please be extra-welcoming to the peoples of SSLI Faith Community so that they can see our Spirit and say "See how these SOViers love one another!" (that's a Bible quote).

It's Portugese. He tried to sell me some T-shirts for a long time.

He'll go away.

Father Chad excomminicated me. May I still come to the picnic? Since no one from SSLI will speak to me (sort of like shunning) maybe the loving folks at SOV2 will give me huge group hug. I will still be dressed rather modestly in wool socks, combat boots, ankle length skirt and a head covering. Do you think this will make any difference??

Oooooops! Spelled "excommunicated" incorrectly. If the good sisters at SSLI saw that I would be writing it at least 5000 times. Maybe I can hit a Reconciliation service at SOV2 so as to relieve my unrelenting Catholic guilt. Our these services valid??? Mea Culpa, Mea Culpa!!

Will there be polka music? - Maybe even a polka mass?

Adrienne - sure! Come to the picnic. We're going to have a General Absolution so that we don't have to have a Reconciliation service. Sorry to hear that you're lugging that C.G. around (aren't we all?). Who is Mea Culpa? A friend? Well, feel free to bring her too.

Fr. V - Polka is a little bit too classical for us. We don't want to put a damper on the picnic! We've got an Arlo Guthrie tribute band lined up, and Keith's rock band is going to play for a little while if they can find some musical equipment to rent. Also Todd Turk has composed a new hymn in honor of the summer solstice, and we'll be debuting it at the picnic.
